Families gathered at MOW Sports Club in South C, Nairobi, for an Eid Family Fun Day featuring children’s games, halal food, and safe outdoor activities, highlighting community, inclusivity, and post-Ramadan togetherness.

Laughter, games, and the aroma of festive food filled MOW Sports Club in South C, Nairobi, on Friday, March 20, as families came together to celebrate Eid Family Fun Day, marking the end of Ramadan with a day of joy, community, and shared memories.

The event attracted parents, children, and community members for a full day of activities designed to bring families together after a month of fasting and spiritual reflection.

Organizers had projected an attendance of around 2,000 people, planning activities that suited all age groups. Beyond recreation, the event aimed to foster unity, inclusivity, and safety among attendees.

“Our community places great value on spending time together, and Ramadan has been a time of spiritual reflection and unity. Now it is a moment to celebrate with our loved ones,” said one of the event coordinators.

Children were at the heart of the celebrations, enjoying games like ring toss and tic-tac-toe, as well as adventurous activities including quad biking, trampolines, and wall climbing. Additional attractions such as face painting, electric train rides, and giant castles added to the festive atmosphere.

Parents had access to designated chill zones, giving them a chance to relax while keeping an eye on their children. “This event is about creating memorable experiences for families. Children will have fun in a safe environment while parents can relax in designated chill zones,” the coordinator said.

Attendees expressed satisfaction with the event. Aisha, a parent, praised the impact on her children, saying, “The event was good, the kids have interacted with people, my kids are very happy, they have really enjoyed.” She also called for more such events and emphasized the importance of partnerships with organizers like Radio Generation for future editions.

Another attendee, Mohammed, described the day as welcoming and fun for all. “The environment is friendly, I came with my sisters and brothers and all my kids, they are having fun,” he said. He added that children were fully engaged in the activities, “Children are playing games, others are doing face painting, others driving quad bikes.”

Food was central to the celebration, with a dedicated halal zone ensuring all meals met dietary requirements. A variety of snacks, meals, and beverages were available, reflecting the cultural importance of shared dining during festive occasions.

Safety was a priority, with all activities supervised and play areas secured. “Children’s safety is paramount, and all activities have been designed with supervision and secure play areas. Parents can enjoy their time knowing that the environment is safe for their children,” the coordinator said.

The festival also provided a platform for local businesses and sponsors to engage with families, blending entertainment with community networking. Organizers emphasized inclusivity, welcoming both Muslims and the wider community. “We want this to be a day that people remember, not just for the games, but for the sense of community, family, and celebration,” the organizer said.

By combining outdoor recreation, cultural celebration, and family bonding, the Eid Family Fun Day offered Nairobi families a memorable way to mark the end of Ramadan, celebrating unity, joy, and shared experiences.
